As an active researcher and school safety consultant, Donna is an expert in school safety. During the webinar, we will explore school safety through her experienced lens and multiple perspectives, helping us identify and prioritize the key aspects of ensuring a safe school environment.
Meet your guest: Donna Dougherty
Donna Dougherty is an Instructor/Explorer with The “I Love U Guys” Foundation and travels the United States conducting training and presentations on the Standard Response Protocol and the Standard Reunification Method. She is also a certified Mental Health First Aid trainer and has received certification in Behavioral Threat Assessment for schools.
Donna is a North Carolina native with a master’s degree in administration/supervision. With over 30 years of experience in public education, she served as a teacher, administrator, and Director of School Safety. As Director of School Safety, Donna developed district safety plans which included Reunification and Recovery, and provided training to schools, administrators, school resource officers, first responders and public safety officials. She led a team in the development and implementation of Behavioral Threat Assessments and monitored the initiative.
Donna served on various committees on the North Carolina Governor’s Safety Task Force and following retirement, did contract work with the North Carolina Center for Safer Schools. Donna served in various roles at the Center for Safer Schools including Research and Evaluation Coordinator, Alternative Learning Programs liaison, School Safety Specialist and State School Safety Coordinator. She had an integral role in writing the current North Carolina State Resource Guide on School Safety.
Meet your host: Brandon Faber
Brandon Faber is a Business Development Manager for TownSteel and uses his background to create meaningful change, actively connecting with school safety organizations to build partnerships and leverage TownSteel’s capabilities in support. Furthermore, Brandon will engage with educational institutions across the nation to focus on awareness and action to help promote school safety.
His training to assess threats and identify potential risks will inform the development of security strategies for schools to anticipate and mitigate potential threats. His expertise in crisis management will also help design emergency response plans for schools, including protocols for lockdowns, evacuations, and coordination with first responders.
