TownSteel’s Aegis Bored and Aegis Mortise locks are designed for fast and efficient installation into existing door preparations without the need to replace the door. These highly secure locks are purpose designed for effective classroom safety. Their solid stainless-steel construction provides excellent durability yet they’re priced cost-effectively, making them the logical investment for schools needing to upgrade classroom security within a budget.
Minimal Door Preparation
The Aegis Bored lock is designed to fit into any standard cylindrical lock prep, making it a versatile and convenient choice for school security upgrades. Installation requires drilling three small holes to properly mount the escutcheons on each side of the door. The entire process, from removing the old lock to drilling the holes and installing the new lock, takes approximately 15 minutes per opening—making it a quick and straightforward upgrade.
The Aegis Mortise lock can be used for both new and retrofit projects, offering mortise lock chassis compatible with Marks, Dorma, Corbin Russwin, Best, Sargent, Schlage, and of course, TownSteel’s own locks. Installation time is approximately 20 minutes per opening, depending on the specific function needed.
TownSteel provides detailed templates to guide the installation process. The template for the bored lock is a stick-on type and the mortise lock templates are traditional paper and vary based on the lock’s required function to define additional holes that need to be drilled. These holes are small enough to preserve the door’s warranty and fire label.
